Ryagen Supplement Facts
Beta-Sitosterol:
Studies indicates that Beta-sitosterol is helpful in treating BPH, improving
urological symptoms and flow measures. Beta-sitosterol has also been shown
to possess 5alpha-reductase-inhibitory activity in vitro (in the test
tube). Beta-sitosterol may also work by interfering with the formation
of prostaglandins that cause swelling in the prostate.
Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens):
Saw palmetto’s efficacy is often compared to that of finasteride
(a prescription drug that slows the progression of BPH) in relieving symptoms
of benign prostatic hyperplasia during its early and latent stages. Moreover,
saw palmetto appears to produce symptom relief in a much shorter time
than finasteride. It is important to note that saw palmetto has only been
shown to relieve symptoms of BPH without changing the size of the prostate,
like finasteride.
Pygeum Extract (Prunus/Pygeum africanum):
Clinical trials conducted to date suggest that Pygeum Extract works to
decrease nocturnal urinary frequency, lessen urinary urgency, inhibit
prostate cell proliferation, improve patient quality of life, reduce residual
urine volume in the bladder, and support healthy prostaglandin function,
which helps keep the prostate gland healthy and alleviates prostate discomfort.
Pygeum bark contains numerous beneficial constituents, which are thought
to work together to help safely and effectively reduce the symptoms of
benign prostatic hyperplasia and urinary flow measures. Pygeum extract
is considered well-tolerated across all age groups and races.
Red Clover (Trifolium pretense):
Red Clover’s effectiveness as a therapy for enlarged prostate has
been well documented. Scientific-based reviews have also shown the isoflavaones
of Red Clover to produce limiting effects on benign prostatic hyperplasia
symptoms, including improvements in weak or interrupted urine stream to
dribbling after urinating. Interestingly, a review article published in
a past issue of Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (volume
8, no. 6), has gone as far as saying that based on current scientific
evidence, “isoflavones from red clover extract appear to be the
best alternative treatment for prostate health.”
Pumpkin Seeds (Cucurbita pepo L.):
Pumpkin Seeds have been used for centuries around the world as a method
to treat a variety of health problems, including those associated with
the prostate. In fact today, European men regularly consume pumpkin seed
for prostate protection later in life. Pumpkin seeds are extremely high
in zinc; a mineral commonly used by physicians to assist in reducing prostate
size.
Pumpkin Seed’s most effective benefits are derived by means of
its phytosterol content. These potent chemical constituents of the seed
may be responsible for actually shrinking the prostate. Pumpkin seeds
contain other significant chemical constituents such as cucurbitacins
that work to prevent the transformation of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone
(DHT) as well. This is important as high levels of DHT are associated
with enlarged prostate. Finally, Pumpkin Seed has been shown to relieve
the urinary difficulties that develop when an enlarged prostate obstructs
the exit from the bladder.
Garlic (Allium sativum):
Several garlic compounds of Allium Sativum, including allicin, have been
shown to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in various malignant
human cells. Included are cancers of the breast, colorectal, hepatic,
prostate, as well as lymphoma cells. Additionally, the chemical constituent
ajoene, a major sulfur-containing compound purified from garlic, is thought
to be more chemically stable than allicin. Researchers are currently investigating
ajoene as a potential preventative agent for prostate cancer. What’s
more, garlic’s medicinal-like effect has been utilized by consumers
for years with nearly the same efficacy of patients in clinical settings.
Rye Grass Extract (Secale cereale):
Rye grass extract may positively influence or relieve the symptoms of
noncancerous enlarged prostate, or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
This extract has been shown to affect a multitude of processes within
the male body. It works, primarily, by affecting the male hormone testosterone,
and has also been shown to relax the muscles of the urethra (tube that
urine flows through), and increase the efficiency of the bladder (how
well it can force urine out). These actions may reduce symptoms of an
enlarged prostate; including dribbling after urinating or eliminating
the need to arise several times at night to urinate.
